Engineer – BESS Acoustics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Act as the subject matter expert in outdoor and environmental acoustics for large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) projects.

• Offer technical guidance on acoustic modeling, community noise impacts, and acoustical decisions specific to each project.

• Assess feasible noise reduction strategies for HVAC and chiller systems, power conversion systems (PCS)/inverters, transformers/GSUs, substations, and other BESS equipment.

• Investigate and interpret relevant noise regulations, permitting criteria, and compliance requirements.

• Convert regulatory mandates into practical design and compliance criteria for projects.

• Execute and assist in field measurements and the permitting process for projects.

• Utilize AI-driven tools and automation for acoustic research, data analysis, regulatory assessments, and engineering processes.

• Employ CadnaA, Excel, GIS, and AI-enabled platforms for project evaluation, visualization, technical communication, and knowledge dissemination.

• Collaborate with equipment manufacturers, engineering consultants, and project teams to address technical challenges and articulate project objectives.

• Report directly to the on-site manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Acoustical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.

• A minimum of five years of pertinent experience in outdoor or environmental acoustics, acoustic modeling, noise control, or a similar technical area.

• Proven experience collaborating with equipment manufacturers, engineering consultants, and project teams to troubleshoot technical issues and communicate project objectives.

• INCE certification is advantageous.

• Willingness to travel occasionally for project-related activities, vendor meetings, and site visits.

• Applicants must comply with applicable United States export control regulations or equivalent requirements in other countries.
