EMS Applications Engineer

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Provide support for the Energy Management Systems (EMS) power systems applications portfolio, which includes Power Flow, State Estimator, Contingency Analysis, Load Frequency Control, Dynamic Stability Analysis, Load Forecasting, and Operator Training Simulator (OTS).

β€’ Design, develop, test, validate, and implement modifications and enhancements for EMS applications.

β€’ Proactively improve, enhance, and address issues in OTS and real-time power system applications.

β€’ Coordinate the setup and testing of applications with Market Participants.

β€’ Conduct periodic model-load testing and refresh real-time model data.

β€’ Design and test interfaces for Energy and Market Management Systems, along with changes for web/client-server applications.

β€’ Verify and support applications during site failovers.

β€’ Validate applications during server, system, and database upgrades and patching procedures.

β€’ Assist in EMS disaster recovery drills and business continuity planning.

β€’ Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and escalate issues related to EMS and OTS applications and interfaces.

β€’ Act as a consultant, representative, and subject matter expert for EMS and OTS projects.

β€’ Engage in multifunctional teams, stakeholder meetings, studies, and the implementation of system changes.

β€’ Develop tools, processes, and procedures that enhance system reliability and organizational efficiency.

β€’ Collaborate with database administrators and infrastructure teams on complex application challenges.

β€’ Provide training, mentorship, and guidance to other engineers and analysts.

β€’ Report to the Supervisor/Manager of Grid & Market Solutions Applications Engineering - Grid.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (Required).

β€’ At least 5 years of relevant work experience beyond degree requirements.

β€’ A combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in the specified fields.

β€’ Must be authorized to work in the United States.

β€’ Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening.

β€’ Proficient in using power system software applications and tools, spreadsheet programs, and database applications.

β€’ Familiarity with emerging trends and industry best practices.

β€’ Ability to collaborate with database administrators and infrastructure teams on complex EMS application issues.

β€’ Capability to test non-functional requirements and coordinate testing with database/infrastructure teams.
