Employment Counsel – US

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide guidance to emerging companies on a comprehensive range of US employment issues as they hire, scale, and undergo restructuring.

• Draft, evaluate, and offer counsel on employment contracts, offer letters, contractor and consulting agreements, and separation documents.

• Advise founders on hiring practices, worker classification, wage and hour regulations, and employment terms related to equity grants.

• Create and update workplace policies and employee handbooks across various states.

• Assist clients with terminations, workforce reductions, severance agreements, and releases, including compliance with age-related waiver requirements and risk management.

• Provide advice on restrictive covenants, confidentiality agreements, and intellectual property assignments while considering the enforceability rules of different states.

• Support workplace investigations, address discrimination and harassment issues, and manage responses to charges from the EEOC, Department of Labor, and state agencies.

• Recognize recurring patterns and convert them into templates, clauses, and procedural playbooks.

• Contribute to the design of AI-powered workflows.

• Help establish legal delivery standards, client communication practices, and matter management processes.

• Leverage legal expertise to enhance the platform and improve future matters.

⛳️ Requirements

• 4-10 years of experience at a prominent law firm or in-house legal department.

• Extensive experience advising on US employment law matters.

• Licensed to practice law in a US jurisdiction.

• Strong commercial acumen.

• Capacity to provide clear, practical advice under time-sensitive and high-stakes circumstances.

• Openness to transforming how routine legal tasks are executed.

• Familiarity with employment agreements, offer letters, contractor and consulting arrangements, separation agreements, worker classification, wage and hour compliance, employment terms related to equity grants, workplace policies, employee handbooks, terminations, workforce reductions, severance, releases, restrictive covenants, confidentiality, IP assignment, workplace investigations, discrimination and harassment issues, and agency charges.
