This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Deliver targeted course content in a virtual setting.
• Offer instruction, support, and guidance tailored to students’ unique needs as outlined in their IEPs.
• Oversee the learning process effectively.
• Engage with parents and related service staff to ensure appropriate therapy services.
• Create compliant IEPs, progress reports, and necessary special education documentation.
• Organize and lead collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP discussions.
• Utilize assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible texts to provide necessary accommodations and modifications.
• Adapt Stride K12 lessons and assessments in accordance with IEPs.
• Ensure student inclusion and success within the general education setting.
• Gather data and work samples to track IEP progress.
• Document communications with parents and student interventions.
• Analyze student data to determine appropriate remediation and enrichment strategies.
• Provide both synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences.
• Tailor educational experiences and uphold high expectations for all students.
• Maintain the grade book and uphold student academic integrity.
• Make decisions regarding student placement and promotion.
• Notify administrators of any performance and progress issues.
• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized assessments.
• Establish positive relationships with families and communicate promptly with students and learning coaches/parents.
• Assist learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual classroom troubleshooting.
• Travel for in-person professional development, student assessments, and other school-related activities.
• Required Michigan Teaching Certification.
• Special Education endorsement is necessary.
• A Bachelor's degree is mandatory.
• Must possess an active state teaching license.
• Ability to pass a required background check.
• Residency in one of the 50 states or Washington, D.C. is required.
• Capability to work independently, typically exceeding 40 hours per week.
• Ability to maintain a professional, distraction-free home office.
• Willingness to work during standard school hours, either 9-5 or 8-4.
• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
• Proficiency in interpreting and producing numerical, tabular, and graphical representations of student data.
• Skill in using student data to inform instructional decisions.
• Open to regular coaching from administrators.
• Ability to adapt to change and embrace new challenges.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Quick to learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Experience with the designated age group is preferred.
• Prior experience in supporting both adults and children with technology is a plus.
• Experience in teaching online or in traditional classroom settings is preferred.
• Familiarity with an online learning platform is advantageous.
