Electrical Estimator – Federal Sector

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Create comprehensive conceptual, design, and construction cost estimates for federal building projects.

β€’ Evaluate construction drawings, specifications, and scope documents to generate precise quantity takeoffs.

β€’ Develop Independent Government Estimates (IGEs) and assist in budget planning efforts.

β€’ Assess contractor bids, change orders, and cost proposals for their appropriateness.

β€’ Utilize industry-standard estimating databases like RSMeans and other estimating software.

β€’ Compile cost reports, estimate narratives, and necessary supporting documentation.

β€’ Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and government clients throughout the project lifecycle.

β€’ Recognize cost risks, escalation factors, and opportunities for value engineering.

β€’ Keep up-to-date with federal construction standards, procurement practices, and market pricing.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, or a related technical discipline.

β€’ A minimum of 5 years of professional electrical estimating experience in commercial, institutional, or federal construction projects.

β€’ Proven experience in preparing detailed electrical estimates for vertical construction projects.

β€’ Strong knowledge of electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, telecommunications, and low-voltage systems.

β€’ Proficiency in estimating software and the Microsoft Office Suite.

β€’ Experience in interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

β€’ Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication abilities.

β€’ Must possess authorization to work in the United States without the need for current or future employment visa sponsorship.

β€’ Preferred: Experience with federal government construction projects.

β€’ Preferred: Familiarity with CSI MasterFormat, Uniformat, and federal cost estimating practices.

β€’ Preferred: Experience in preparing Independent Government Estimates (IGEs).

β€’ Preferred: Knowledge of RSMeans, CostWorks, Success Estimator, MII, or similar estimating platforms.

β€’ Professional certifications such as AACE, ASPE, CPE, CCP, or PMP are advantageous.
