Electrical Designer – Substation P&C

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +3 more locations.

📋 Description

• Create comprehensive protection and control (P&C) substation design packages, which include protection and control single-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, bills of materials, cable schedules, and interconnection diagrams.

• Develop and enhance substation SCADA and communication drawings, detailing RTU, relay I/O, and control wiring.

• Collaborate and review drawings with both internal and external teams, such as engineers, drafters, and project managers, to ensure adherence to quality standards and compliance.

• Integrate client and utility specifications while following RRC’s design methodologies and quality protocols.

• Aid in the creation of standard design templates, drafting processes, and best practices for P&C.

• Provide support to construction and commissioning teams by updating as-built drawings, managing redlines, and overseeing documentation control.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.

• Over 5 years of experience in substation protection and control (P&C) design for utilities, EPCs, or renewable energy initiatives.

• Proficient in AutoCAD, MicroStation, or comparable CAD software, including XREF management, annotation standards, and layer controls.

• Skilled in creating and modifying protection and control wiring diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings.

• Familiar with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3.0, and IEC.

• Knowledgeable in networking devices, relay I/O assignments, and communication setups.

• Strong grasp of utility and industry design standards (IEEE, IEC, CSA, NESC).

• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

• Excellent communication and organizational abilities, capable of thriving in a multidisciplinary environment.

• Must be authorized to work full-time in the U.S. or Canada.

• Self-driven, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal oversight.
