Electrical Designer – Substation P&C

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +3 more locations.

📋 Description

• Create comprehensive protection and control (P&C) substation design packages, which encompass single-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, bills of materials, cable schedules, and interconnection diagrams.

• Design and revise substation SCADA and communication drawings, detailing RTU, relay I/O, and control wiring specifications.

• Collaborate and review designs with both internal and external teams, including engineers, drafters, and project managers, to ensure adherence to quality standards and compliance.

• Integrate client and utility standards while following RRC’s design guidelines and quality procedures.

• Contribute to the development of standard design templates, drafting workflows, and P&C best practices.

• Assist construction and commissioning teams by updating as-built drawings, managing redlines, and controlling documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.

• Over 5 years of experience in substation protection and control (P&C) design for utilities, EPCs, or renewable energy projects.

• Expertise in AutoCAD, MicroStation, or comparable CAD software, including XREF management, annotation standards, and layer controls.

• Experience in creating and modifying protection and control wiring diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings.

• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3.0, and IEC.

• Understanding of networking devices, relay I/O assignments, and communication configurations.

• Strong knowledge of utility and industry design standards (IEEE, IEC, CSA, NESC).

• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

• Exceptional communication and organizational skills, capable of thriving in a multidisciplinary environment.

• Must possess authorization for full-time employment in the U.S. or Canada.

• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision.
