Ecologist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Lead and execute ecological surveys for bats, birds, reptiles, great crested newts, dormice, badgers, and various other protected species.

• Conduct bat surveys independently utilizing a Natural England Level 2 or higher bat licence.

• Apply for mitigation licences through Natural England.

• Prepare and present Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments.

• Generate ecological survey reports and technical evaluations.

• Oversee fieldwork operations and keep comprehensive field notes.

• Perform out-of-hours surveys, ecological watching briefs, and protected species survey tasks.

• Manage intricate ecological projects from start to finish.

• Offer technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff members.

• Maintain precise and organized data records.

• Supervise projects, deadlines, quality, and safety standards.

• Assist in tender preparation, proposals, business development, and client engagement.

• Support soil and groundwater monitoring as needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• Natural England Level 2 Class Licence (or equivalent).

• Proven experience in independently leading bat survey programs and contributing to mitigation licensing efforts.

• Full membership in the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).

• Demonstrated experience in leading ecological surveys and assessments.

• Background in ecological consultancy with extensive industry knowledge.

• Capability to manage projects autonomously with minimal oversight.

• Strong skills in technical report writing and effective communication.

• Competence in contributing to proposals, tenders, and business operations.

• Ability to efficiently manage workload to achieve operational performance and financial objectives.

• Skill in maintaining and managing safety and survey-related equipment.
