This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.
• Create residential drawings and construction documentation utilizing ArchiCAD.
• Develop initial concepts, tender drawings, preliminary plans, and final contract plans.
• Prepare documents for development applications, developer approvals, and building permit submissions.
• Integrate client variations, selections, and upgrades into residential designs.
• Review and include soil reports, survey data, and finished floor-level requirements.
• Modify standard double-storey housing models to fit individual blocks and site conditions.
• Evaluate each project for compliance with relevant planning, building, and Small Lot Housing Code regulations.
• Analyze site-specific factors, including front and side setbacks, building heights, and other development controls.
• Ensure compliance requirements are addressed throughout the entire drawing and construction lifecycle.
• Address requests for information from building surveyors and other stakeholders during the building permit process.
• Revise plans based on internal reviews, consultant feedback, authority input, and permit requirements.
• Identify potential design, documentation, and compliance challenges, escalating complex or unclear issues as necessary.
• Collaborate with internal drafting, estimating, development, and construction teams.
• Oversee daily drafting assignments based on project priorities, team capacity, and required timelines.
• Maintain precise drawing revisions, records, and supporting documentation.
• Adhere to established drafting standards, templates, and quality-control procedures.
• Provide support and share technical knowledge with less-experienced drafting team members when appropriate.
• Undertake other position-related duties as they arise.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position.
• Bachelor’s degree or relevant tertiary qualification in architecture, building design, architectural drafting, or a related field.
• Experience in Australian residential drafting.
• High proficiency in ArchiCAD.
• Previous experience in volume-building and/or medium-density residential projects.
• In-depth understanding of the Small Lot Housing Code and its application to residential projects.
• Experience in preparing documentation throughout the residential production lifecycle, including tender, preliminary, contract, and building permit plans.
• Ability to interpret and integrate architectural requirements, surveys, soil reports, engineering data, and planning controls.
• Strong knowledge of Australian residential construction methods, terminology, and documentation standards.
• Victorian residential drafting experience is preferred, though relevant experience from other Australian states, including New South Wales or Western Australia, will be considered.
• Capability to apply standard housing models effectively while demonstrating sound judgment regarding individual sites.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to identify compliance or documentation issues.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in drawings.
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work efficiently as part of a distributed drafting team.
• Capability to work independently within an established production process and escalate more complex design issues as needed.
• Work from home.
• Monday to Friday: 9:00am – 6:00pm AEST/AEDT (adjustments will be made for daylight saving time).
