Distributed Systems Engineer – Compute

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with Product teams and Customers to craft experiences that anticipate user needs and simplify internet-scale computing.

• Design, implement, and manage high-leverage managed compute services.

• Provide insights on balancing complexity and usability in alignment with Netflix's overarching business objectives.

• Foster collaboration with stakeholders and oversee strategic partnerships.

• Mentor fellow engineers in the development, maintenance, and deployment of intricate features that have a significant impact across Netflix.

• Champion operational excellence by continuously enhancing incident response, on-call duties, and various operational practices.

• Stay updated on industry trends regarding new architectures, features, and available services.

• Offer recommendations for integrating industry trends into our practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated success in implementing infrastructure changes on a large scale.

• Practical experience in building, maintaining, and integrating with Kubernetes.

• A strong passion for technology, with pragmatic thinking and the ability to navigate ambiguous areas while deconstructing complex challenges.

• Outstanding communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships.

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of breaking down complex issues, identifying root causes through data, and delivering clear, actionable solutions.

• Show a high level of ownership and accountability for execution while effectively managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

• Exhibit a growth mindset with a continuous eagerness to learn, assess, and adapt to new and evolving technologies.

• Proficiency in Golang, Java, and/or Python.

• Capability to balance the complex needs of customers, engineering, and stakeholders.

• Skill in defining and self-managing cross-functional projects driven by ambiguous questions.

• Encourage thoughtful collaboration, take pride in your work, and enjoy owning projects from initial concept through to production.
