This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Deliver market insights regarding bolt-on targets, the competitive landscape, and valuation context within the subsector.

• Facilitate introductions to founders, family owners, and senior executives within the current network.

• Analyze confidential information memoranda and management presentations for alignment with sector-specific operational fit and risk.

• Evaluate the sustainability of a target’s accreditation scope, technical staffing, and regulatory standing as part of the due diligence process.

• Engage in pitches for private equity sponsors and strategic acquirers when applicable subsector and operational background is relevant.

• Offer operational due diligence insights on target companies.

• Counsel the Fireclay team on strategies and messaging for sponsor outreach and sourcing initiatives.

• Collaborate with the Fireclay team on specific deals where domain expertise adds value, typically over a period of three to twelve months.


⛳️ Requirements

• Experience as a Laboratory Director, General Manager, VP Operations, Division President, COO, or CEO in a testing, inspection, or certification firm, or as Head of Corporate Development in a sector consolidator.

• A minimum of fifteen years in the sector across various accredited locations, service lines, or end markets.

• Proficient understanding of the accreditation landscape, including ISO 17025, ISO 17020, or ISO 17065, along with the state and federal programs governing the subsector.

• Direct experience with operational dynamics such as utilization, turnaround time, scope expansion, multi-site integration, and retention of technical staff.

• Awareness of ownership structures typical to independent firms, including ESOPs and certifications for small and disadvantaged businesses, along with their implications for transactions.

• A well-established network of founders, family owners, senior executives, and private equity professionals within the subsector.

• Ability to represent Fireclay in a professional manner to private equity sponsors, strategic acquirers, and management of target companies.

• Discretion in managing nonpublic information and competitive intelligence.

• Openness to work on a flexible, per-engagement basis without fixed hours or commitments.

• 1099 independent contractor arrangement.
