This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Collaborate with leadership in Product Security and Engineering to establish AI security measures for customer-facing products.
• Develop, implement, and manage internal AI/ML models, guardrails, tools, and automation processes.
• Oversee the performance of deployed models, monitor for drift, and execute enhancements.
• Direct adversarial testing and AI red teaming efforts, encompassing jailbreaking, prompt injection, evasion, and poisoning evaluations.
• Spearhead security assessments of significant AI product initiatives from conception to launch.
• Provide architectural approvals and guidance for high-risk decisions.
• Perform threat modeling throughout the AI lifecycle.
• Lead and advance DigitalOcean’s AI Security strategy and multi-year roadmap.
• Design and manage the AI Risk & Governance framework across DigitalOcean and Cloudways.
• Represent AI security in briefings for executive and board-level audiences.
• Articulate DigitalOcean’s stance on emerging topics in AI security.
• Over 10 years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 4–5 years dedicated to AI/ML security, adversarial machine learning, or security data science in a cloud or technology setting.
• Proven ability to define and lead AI or security initiatives at an organizational level.
• Extensive practitioner-level expertise in adversarial ML attacks and defenses, including evasion, poisoning, model extraction, membership inference, and prompt injection.
• Capability to evaluate and integrate academic AI security research into engineering directives and organizational policies.
• Experience interacting with executive and senior leadership on technical risk matters.
• Strong programming proficiency in Python and Go.
• Skilled in reviewing and assessing AI/ML system architectures.
• Practical experience with AI red teaming, defensive strategies, and model supply chain tools.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Familiarity with OWASP LLM Top 10, MITRE ATLAS, NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001, and the EU AI Act.
• Previous experience with a cloud provider, security product company, or a large-scale internet platform.
• Knowledge of production LLM security, including RAG pipelines, agentic frameworks, and model APIs.
