Director, Research & Development

📋 Description

• Provide technical leadership and strategic guidance for product development and support services throughout the organization.

• Set KPIs and metrics to evaluate R&D initiatives, providing regular reports and updates to senior management.

• Own and oversee the technology roadmap for product development.

• Manage the budget, personnel, infrastructure, and other essential resources.

• Mentor and coach R&D team members, fostering their professional growth.

• Lead comprehensive project management from planning stages through to delivery.

• Coordinate with cross-functional teams regarding scope, timelines, risks, and dependencies.

• Take charge of R&D planning, execution tracking, risk management, and status reporting.

• Act as the primary liaison between the R&D team and executive leadership.

• Shape R&D strategies, goals, and objectives to ensure alignment with business priorities and drive software innovation.

• Collaborate with the executive team on budgeting, forecasting, financial operations, and departmental ROI.

• Travel as necessary for on-site R&D office visits and approximately 1–2 trips annually to South Korea.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Over 10 years of experience in software development.

• More than 5 years of experience in project or program management.

• At least 3 years of experience in a leadership or management capacity.

• Bilingual proficiency in English and Korean.

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and initiatives concurrently.

• Proven experience in managing personnel and leading cross-functional teams.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams and conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Ability to balance accountability for delivery with leadership responsibilities for team members.

• Willingness to travel for on-site visits to the R&D office as required.

• Possession of a current, valid passport and legal eligibility for international travel.

• Ability to obtain passport-based visa exemption or necessary travel visas for entry into South Korea.

• Readiness to travel approximately 1–2 times per year to South Korea.

• Comfort with AI-enabled technologies, including copilots, chat-based AI assistants, and automation tools.
