This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Lead the technical implementation of agentic engineering transformations at designated Vista portfolio companies, ranging from initial assessment and proof of concept through to implementation, scaling, and handoff.
β’ Evaluate engineering environments, including repository readiness, existing AI adoption, infrastructure gaps, and identify opportunities for impactful use cases.
β’ Collaborate directly with portfolio company engineers to develop and implement agentic engineering capabilities, encompassing knowledge layers, agents, orchestration, evaluations, guardrails, and observability.
β’ Identify and resolve technical challenges across repositories, workflows, agent configurations, and evaluation frameworks.
β’ Create reusable reference architectures, agent libraries, technical standards, evaluation frameworks, and implementation patterns applicable throughout the Vista portfolio.
β’ Set up controls for identity, permissions, evaluation, auditability, escalation, and human-in-the-loop decision-making.
β’ Assess AI platforms, models, development tools, and orchestration technologies while ensuring vendor independence.
β’ Collaborate with portfolio company CTOs and engineering leaders to develop sustainable internal capabilities and operating models.
β’ Empower Vista teams and portfolio company engineers to utilize the Agentic Engineering Factory framework.
β’ Define technical standards and acceptance criteria for external system integrators and delivery partners.
β’ Over 12 years of experience in production software engineering, including roles at the Principal Engineer, Distinguished Engineer, Senior Architect, or a similar level.
β’ Proven ownership of architecture across multiple engineering teams or business units, with experience in establishing technical standards on an enterprise scale.
β’ A strong history of leading multi-quarter technical implementations and delivering production systems within intricate organizations.
β’ At least 2 years of hands-on, production experience with advanced AI development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or equivalent technologies.
β’ Experience in building operational agentic systems, including orchestration, tool usage, memory, evaluation frameworks, and human-in-the-loop design.
β’ Extensive experience working within brownfield enterprise environments, including legacy codebases, monolithic architectures, multi-repository setups, and complex compliance requirements.
β’ Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP, including CI/CD, containerization, observability, and security controls.
β’ Proven capability to develop reusable platforms, frameworks, standards, or internal products that gain adoption beyond your immediate team.
β’ Ability to communicate effectively with both highly technical audiences and senior executives.
β’ Preferred experience in developer productivity measurement, working with system integrators, consulting, private equity operating environments, or large-scale organizational transformations.
β’ Willingness to travel up to 50%.
