Director of Quality Assurance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the Quality Assurance (QA) organization in transforming to an AI-enhanced Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

• Establish the comprehensive quality strategy and incorporate AI tools throughout the SDLC.

• Enhance automated, robust testing frameworks for various product launches and ongoing feature delivery.

• Spearhead AI-assisted test case development, requirements analysis, and automated risk-based test coverage.

• Increase quality output and track metrics such as release cycle time, escaped defect rate, automated test coverage, and regression suite runtime.

• Supervise automated testing strategies for a multi-tenant Software as a Service (SaaS) platform, utilizing Playwright and AI-driven self-healing test infrastructure.

• Manage tenant isolation, data-segregation testing, configuration-driven test matrices, and the risks associated with shared-schema regression.

• Direct the activities of the QA organization while upholding platform stability and quality engineering standards.

• Ensure QA practices, documentation, and evidence comply with HIPAA, 21 CFR Part 11, GxP/CSV, SOC 2, and GDPR requirements when applicable.

• Act as a senior quality representative during internal and customer audits.

• Oversee the review, approval, and evidence framework for AI-assisted testing artifacts.

• Collaborate with Security and DevOps on SAST/DAST, dependency and vulnerability triage, penetration testing, and de-identification of Protected Health Information (PHI).

• Lead distributed in-house and vendor QA teams across various time zones while maintaining vendor partnerships.

• Implement strategic roadmaps to enhance the cost-effectiveness and efficiency of the quality function.

• Own quality plans for simultaneous product launches and ongoing SaaS releases, including release trains, phased rollouts, feature flags, and criteria for release readiness.

• Recruit, mentor, and develop QA leaders and engineers.

• Track bugs and defects, establish continuous improvement processes, and report data-driven quality metrics.

• Manage the QA budget and assist in financial planning and resource forecasting.

• Collaborate with Medrio customers and teams from Development, Product, Support, Compliance, Sales, Professional Services, and Executive levels.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent blend of education and experience.

• Over 10 years of QA experience.

• More than 5 years of management experience in a Director-level capacity or equivalent senior leadership role.

• Experience in a regulated and compliant SDLC within the healthcare or life sciences sector, with knowledge of HIPAA and 21 CFR Part 11.

• Proven experience in building and directing QA for a multi-tenant SaaS product.

• Demonstrated success in integrating AI-assisted testing within an established organization.

• Proven experience in deploying AI tools across the SDLC, including AI-assisted test generation and self-healing test runners.

• Familiarity with Playwright at scale in CI and modern web and API automation, including contract and API testing.

• Sound judgment on the applicability of AI in validated environments.

• Thorough understanding of the complete Software Development Life Cycle along with Agile and DevOps CI/CD pipelines.

• Demonstrated ownership of quality practices in a regulated healthcare context, encompassing validation, traceability, and audit evidence.

• Capable of working with and managing offshore teams, in-house staff, contractors, QA vendors, and external partners.

• Exceptional executive communication skills and experience in reporting metrics and strategic progress to C-level executives.

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to compliance, documentation, and execution standards.

• This position is remote; preference for candidates based in the US.

• Ability to work across multiple time zones.

• Occasional travel may be necessary.
