Director of Product, Insurance Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.

📋 Description

• Define the product vision and roadmap for the platform, aligning business priorities with clear and achievable plans.

• Take ownership of ongoing platform enhancements by utilizing metrics such as adoption, reliability, delivery speed, and business outcomes to steer priorities.

• Streamline workflows and broaden shared capabilities to facilitate the easier launch and management of insurance products.

• Lead the reconstruction and migration of current products and workflows while ensuring the continuity of business operations.

• Collaborate with Engineering to develop reliable and adaptable systems, and assess the appropriate moments to build, buy, or enhance technology.

• Ensure platform capabilities align with the requirements of Engineering, Program Management, Product Marketing, and Operations.

• Grasp customer and operational needs and translate them into valuable platform functionalities.

• Guide and nurture a small team of product managers while engaging in discovery, significant decision-making, and delivery processes.

• Carry out additional duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in product management.

• Minimum of 2–3 years in a product leadership or senior individual contributor position.

• Proven experience in constructing and managing complex, regulated business systems in production, with demonstrable examples of your contributions and outcomes.

• Strong background in product management, including establishing direction, prioritizing competing demands, and executing complex initiatives.

• Experience in modernizing or replacing existing systems and overseeing the transition for users and the business.

• Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring product managers, with a readiness to tackle challenging problems directly.

• Capability to collaborate effectively with engineers and business leaders, clearly communicate trade-offs, and make decisions in the face of incomplete information.

• Experience in a regulated industry where data integrity, audit readiness, and compliance requirements influence system configuration.

• Preferred: hands-on experience in building and managing insurance systems in a production environment, including quoting, rating, policy administration, billing, or servicing.

• Preferred: comprehensive understanding of insurance workflows and agency management systems that support the complete policy lifecycle.

• Preferred: experience across various insurance distribution models such as MGA, wholesale brokerage, retail agency, or InsurTech.
