Director of Procurement – Raw Materials Strategy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the supplier strategy for dairy and nutritional ingredients, additional ingredients and premixes, as well as packaging.

• Spearhead the negotiation of multi-year supply contracts and master supply agreements.

• Assess and onboard new suppliers while considering lead time, costs, and regulatory risks.

• Develop a structured supplier qualification process and create scorecards.

• Implement cost accounting and PPV reporting for expenditures related to raw materials and packaging.

• Manage procurement's utilization of ERP systems for planning, MRP, PO issuance, and item costing.

• Collaborate with Finance on PO approval limits, cash flow timing, and cost reporting.

• Oversee and nurture the purchasing team.

• Transform the team's approach from reactive tactical purchasing to a proactive category strategy and supplier relationship management.

• Work in partnership with Quality, Regulatory, Science, Supply Planning, Plant Operations, Finance, and co-manufacturing sites.

• Provide end-to-end support for new product launches from a procurement perspective.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in procurement or strategic sourcing, including a background in negotiating multi-year supply agreements, preferably in food, CPG, or other regulated manufacturing settings.

• Proven experience in establishing or significantly enhancing cost accounting or PPV processes.

• Proficient in directly working with an ERP system and developing reports where none currently exist.

• Experience guiding suppliers through new product launches, adhering to regulatory timelines.

• Leadership experience with the ability to set strategies while remaining engaged with the operational details to support the team.

• Preference for candidates with sourcing experience in dairy or nutritional ingredients.

• Experience in the infant formula, baby food, or other FDA-regulated food categories is preferred.

• History of scaling a procurement function within a high-growth organization is preferred.
