Director of Nursing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Lead the nursing departments' operations for designated locations.

• Supervise nursing staff schedules, activities, productivity, patient-care coverage, and control of overtime.

• Implement the centralized scheduling system in collaboration with the Area Director of Nursing.

• Ensure compliance with company standards, laws, regulations, accreditation standards, and agency policies.

• Oversee the selection, development, monitoring, supervision, evaluation, recruitment, discipline, and termination of nursing staff.

• Guarantee that nurses uphold professional nursing practice standards.

• Promote compliance with the supply formulary and maintain adequate levels of patient supplies.

• Prepare, seek approval for, and execute departmental operating and expenditure budgets.

• Coordinate patient services with pharmacy, delivery, reimbursement, and other internal and external departments.

• Manage the procurement and expedited delivery of medical supplies and equipment within budget constraints.

• Evaluate, manage, report, and analyze nursing operational and financial data, and create process-improvement plans.

• Ensure the collection and organization of patient information for determining home-care suitability.

• Assess patient suitability and confirm medical conditions and prescribed therapies for home care.

• Provide ongoing education and competency/orientation programs for healthcare practitioners regarding home infusion matters.

• Ensure on-call processes are in place for nursing departments.

• Facilitate the agency's clinical networking system and serve as a clinical resource.

• Devote approximately 90% of time to managing nursing operations, with the remainder dedicated to providing clinical patient care.

⛳️ Requirements

• Registered Nurse with an active license in the current state of practice.

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in home health/infusion care.

• At least 3 years in a nursing leadership position within a home care environment.

• Familiarity with local, state, federal, accrediting-body, and OSHA regulations and guidelines.

• Proven competency in managing home infusion patients.

• Knowledgeable in patient management and the nursing process.

• Understanding of documentation and billing requirements for home health/infusion products and services.

• Strong time-management skills for prioritizing, organizing, tracking details, and meeting multiple deadlines.

• Experience in training and developing clinical-services processes, documentation, and user manuals.

• Proficient in planning, developing, and managing departmental expenses and budgets.

• Basic skills in Microsoft Word.

• Basic skills in Microsoft Excel.

• Basic skills in Microsoft PowerPoint.

• Willingness to travel 25% of the time for business purposes, both within and outside the state.

• California-specific alternative: BSN or a bachelor's degree in a health-related field plus 3 years of recent relevant experience, or RN plus 4 years of recent relevant experience, which includes one supervisory or administrative year.

• Preferred: BSN with CRNI or other professional certification and advanced management training.

• Preferred: at least 4 years of experience in home health/infusion.
