Director of Instructional Design

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead teams in the creation of innovative online learning solutions.

• Partner with senior leadership to establish strategic directions for course design and development.

• Engage faculty and stakeholders to guarantee successful course development endeavors.

• Set objectives, offer feedback, mentor, and create growth opportunities for instructional designers.

• Assess coursework and observe faculty collaborations, providing constructive feedback.

• Develop methodologies for online course design that address student needs and utilize emerging technologies.

• Enhance design and course development processes to boost production speed and efficiency while ensuring quality.

• Oversee projects to guarantee timely and budget-compliant completion, and communicate course status to stakeholders.

• Utilize production data to inform resource allocation and aid in the recruitment and retention of instructional designers.

• Design and develop assigned courses.

• Manage relationships with faculty and stakeholders.

• Lead the onboarding process for new instructional design employees and contractors.

• Collaborate with project management to define project scopes, estimate efforts, establish schedules, and coordinate deliverables.

• Adhere to relevant compliance requirements and escalate concerns to the Compliance department.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum Development, or a related discipline.

• At least 10 years of experience in curriculum and instructional design, including a minimum of 5 years in a leadership position managing instructional design teams.

• Demonstrated success in recruiting, mentoring, and managing instructional designers, promoting team growth and achieving organizational goals.

• Proficiency in competency-based learning models and the integration of adaptive learning technologies to improve student outcomes and engagement.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with a diverse range of stakeholders.

• Understanding of relevant state laws, federal and state compliance requirements, U.S. Department of Education guidelines, accrediting agency standards, state regulations, and internal policies and procedures.

• Home office setup with a quiet workspace and the ability to connect to high-speed internet via a wired connection.

• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.

• Preferred: Doctorate in a related field.

• Preferred: Over 10 years of experience in instructional design, with at least 7 years in leadership and mentoring of large teams.

• Preferred: Experience managing distributed or remote instructional design teams.

• Preferred: Experience in healthcare sector program development and delivery, including knowledge of accreditation requirements.

• Preferred: Experience designing educational programs for adult learners, underserved populations, or international audiences.

• Preferred: Advanced proficiency in Articulate, Captivate, Camtasia, and multimedia design software.
