Director of DevSecOps

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop, lead, and expand the DevSecOps practice.

• Recruit, onboard, and assign team members across ongoing projects and new initiatives.

• Mentor and nurture engineers at various levels.

• Cultivate a culture of ownership, teamwork, and ongoing improvement.

• Manage team overhead and staffing allocations in collaboration with Practice Area Directors and Finance.

• Establish performance expectations, conduct evaluations, and facilitate career development for direct reports.

• Define and take ownership of the DevSecOps strategy and technical standards across programs and pursuits.

• Guide the design of secure, scalable, cloud-native platforms that encompass CI/CD, IaC, container orchestration, identity/access management, and observability.

• Set architecture standards, reusable patterns, and governance aligned with NIST, FISMA, and FedRAMP.

• Lead migrations from legacy systems to cloud, platform hardening, automation, and AI integration.

• Act as an escalation point for intricate technical challenges.

• Collaborate with BD/capture teams on win themes and DevSecOps architecture.

• Contribute to the technical proposal content, staffing plans, and past performance narratives.

• Represent Bixal's DevSecOps capabilities in client meetings, solutioning sessions, and presentations.

• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients.

• Keep senior leadership updated on practice health, staffing, and delivery risks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in DevSecOps, cloud engineering, platform engineering, SRE, or technical architecture, including experience in federal or highly regulated environments.

• At least 5 years of direct people management experience.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience working with federal government contracts and clients.

• Proven ownership of end-to-end cloud architecture and delivery outcomes in complex environments.

• Extensive experience with one or more cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern DevOps practices (IaC, CI/CD, containers/Kubernetes).

• Strong knowledge of secure delivery and compliance-driven environments; adept at embedding DevSecOps into the SDLC.

• Demonstrated ability to recruit, mentor, and retain technical talent.

• Experience in supporting federal proposals through solutioning, writing, or addressing technical challenges.

• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Capability to obtain and maintain a favorable Public Trust clearance determination.

• Legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Must be able to work in the United States, excluding its territories.

• Nice to have: Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and/or enterprise architecture credentials.

• Nice to have: Experience with Databricks or integrating Databricks into environments.

• Nice to have: Active involvement in DevSecOps or cloud communities, with recent thought leadership contributions.

• Nice to have: Master's degree in a related technical or business field.

• Nice to have: Experience in Agile/Scrum environments and the Atlassian suite.
