Director of Data and Analytics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Develop and oversee the centralized data and analytics function at Second Front Systems from inception.

• Report directly to the VP of Finance.

• Manage the entire company data lifecycle.

• Design the data warehouse, cloud platform, data pipelines, data models, and business intelligence infrastructure.

• Transition from ad-hoc reporting to dependable, reusable data assets.

• Set up governance, definitions, and lineage for company KPIs.

• Ensure that metrics are consistently maintained in a governed location and can withstand audits.

• Establish analytics capabilities from the ground up.

• Create reporting formats for executives, boards, and investors.

• Design and implement data governance across finance, sales, and engineering departments.

• Convert technical implementations into business decisions, and vice versa.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in data, analytics, or business intelligence.

• At least 3 years of experience leading a function, team, or company-wide data initiative.

• Proven track record of building an analytics capability from little or no existing framework.

• Proficiency in advanced SQL.

• Extensive hands-on experience with modern data stacks, including cloud warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, or Redshift), transformation frameworks (dbt or equivalent), ingestion tools, semantic layers, and BI platforms (Looker, Power BI, Tableau, Sigma, or similar).

• Familiarity with SaaS business and financial metrics, such as ARR and its fluctuations, retention rates, CAC and payback periods, gross margin, and cohort behaviors.

• Experience in creating reports for executives, boards, or investors.

• Background in designing data governance frameworks that enforce metric definitions across finance, sales, and engineering.

• Capability to bridge the gap between technical implementation and business decision-making.

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and taking ownership of outcomes rather than just tasks.

• Must be a U.S. citizen.

• Current security clearance is required.

• Preferred: experience in a scaling B2B software or technology organization.

• Preferred: familiarity with mixed revenue models, including subscription revenue, government contracting, and professional services.

• Preferred: experience with Python or R for analysis beyond SQL.
