This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Collaborate with members of the National Compliance Team across the nation on extensive projects and daily operations.
β’ Provide mentorship and guidance to junior compliance personnel on project management, drafting, research, public speaking, and professional growth.
β’ Plan, compose, and present timely and legally pertinent client deliverables, including regulatory summaries, statutory interpretations, compliance alerts, presentations, and educational materials.
β’ Oversee the firm's compliance-related initiatives for the Western region of the United States.
β’ Enhance sales and growth in the West region by working closely with client experience teams and advisors.
β’ Engage in sales initiatives, prospect meetings, educational sessions, and training programs.
β’ Act as a subject matter expert on California-specific employee benefits compliance issues.
β’ Offer practical compliance advice and training to colleagues, clients, and prospects in the West region.
β’ Analyze, summarize, and convert regulatory and legal updates into practical, actionable advice.
β’ A graduate or advanced degree (Master, JD, Ph.D., etc.) is mandatory.
β’ At least 10 years of relevant experience in health and welfare employee benefits compliance is required.
β’ Extensive experience advising on California-specific health and welfare compliance regulations is highly preferred.
β’ A Juris Doctor degree is strongly preferred.
β’ Familiarity with federal and state regulatory agencies, Congress, the executive branch, and legislative and regulatory rulemaking authority.
β’ Proficient in laws, regulations, statutes, and ordinances related to health and welfare employee benefits.
β’ Knowledge and experience with California state and local laws and regulations affecting employer-sponsored health and welfare benefit programs.
β’ Understanding of the San Francisco Health Care Security Ordinance (SFHCSO), Cal-COBRA, California disability and paid family leave requirements, applicable state and local leave mandates, and other California-specific regulations.
β’ Ability to review, draft, edit, and clarify complex legal rulemaking and litigation issues.
β’ Strong leadership and project management skills.
β’ Capacity to handle competing priorities and meet deadlines.
β’ Proficient in creating forms, documents, alerts, checklists, presentations, and graphical interpretations using software applications, including Microsoft Office.
β’ Capable of managing high-volume client-facing correspondence and deliverables through email, print, virtual, and live training formats.
β’ Understanding of client service and prospecting processes.
β’ Ability to support sales efforts, finalist presentations, prospect meetings, client education, and client relationship activities.
