This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Provide coaching, mentorship, and management to Medical Liaisons working in the field.

• Develop and execute strategies that align with territory archetypes and the patient value framework.

• Cultivate relationships with key opinion leaders, organized healthcare providers, academic institutions, integrated delivery networks, and various healthcare organizations.

• Facilitate collaboration between field-based Medical Liaisons and other departments and personnel at Novo Nordisk.

• Represent Field Medical Affairs both across the US affiliate and internationally as necessary.

• Offer administrative and managerial support for the field-based FMA program.

• Ensure adherence to laws, regulations, and company policies.

• Establish operational policies, procedures, budgets, schedules, and performance standards.

• Lead and participate in regional and national projects, team meetings, and training sessions.

• Stay informed about Novo Nordisk products, scientific research, and relevant publications.

• Organize FMA activities at medical and scientific meetings and symposia.

• Deliver presentations at symposia and maintain ongoing relationships with healthcare providers.

• Engage in Marketing and Sales meetings to provide industry insights.

• Identify and profile investigators for clinical trials and future research initiatives.

• Address medical inquiries in compliance with legal, regulatory, and company guidelines.

• Review expense reports, time logs, activities, plans, and budgets for direct reports.

• Coordinate support for research, teaching, continuing medical education, educational initiatives, product launches, and clinical studies.

• Collaborate with Regional and Medical Marketing teams to build thought-leader relationships.

• Assist in preparing presentations for Pre-POA, POA, and other corporate meetings.

• Support sales training by providing product knowledge and clinical data education.

• Recruit and select staff to fill vacant positions.

• Set and assess annual goals and coach team members on individual development plans.

• Communicate Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and organizational changes effectively.

• Coordinate training and development strategies with other Field Directors.

• Ensure that team members understand strategic and therapeutic priorities and are accountable for results.

• Evaluate Medical Liaisons in the field and provide documented feedback and guidance.

• Mentor Field Directors, Medical Liaisons, and RMSs.

• Prepare Medical Liaisons for field activities by reviewing agendas and presentation materials.

• Enhance personnel capabilities in scientific knowledge, business practices, communication, and motivation.

• Foster a challenging, productive, and equitable working environment.

• Spend time in the field with direct reports to coach and develop them.

• Assess workforce talent and capability gaps, planning resource needs accordingly.

• Ensure that reporting personnel maintain development plans, goals, measurements, and learning plans.

• Manage the application and communication of Novo Nordisk policies and the Novo Nordisk Way.


⛳️ Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience in a Medical Liaison or similar role is required.

• A minimum of 6 years of prior management experience is required, including at least 2 years of leading field medical affairs personnel.

• Internal FAD experience may be considered in lieu of 6 years of management experience.

• At least 8 years of progressive experience in the pharmaceutical industry is required.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience within the healthcare system is preferred.

• An advanced degree in healthcare or science is required, such as DO, MD, PharmD, PhD, or DNP.

• Direct experience in a specific therapeutic area is preferred.

• Demonstrated success in establishing relationships with opinion leaders and organized providers.

• Experience in strategy development and team management.

• Strong cross-functional collaborative leadership skills.

• Ability to build and strengthen relationships with both internal and external customers.

• Capability to enhance Novo Nordisk's reputation and operations as a leading company in diabetes care.

• Proficiency in identifying, addressing, and resolving team-wide challenges with minimal supervision.

• Commitment to self-development, leadership/personal growth, and staying informed about scientific literature and competitive landscape.

• Ability to work independently and strategically, sharing best practices with others.

• Flexibility and foresight to guide field medical personnel through a dynamic market.

• Leadership skills to assist less experienced Field Directors in strategic thinking and problem-solving.

• Must reside in the US, ideally on the east coast or near a major airport.

• A valid driver's license is required.

• Must stay within Novo Nordisk’s Motor Vehicle Records points limit.

• Willingness to travel overnight 50–75% of the time.
