Director, Finance – Connected Products

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Design and expand financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and governance processes for the Connected Products division.

• Cultivate skills in revenue forecasting, customer programs and rebates, sourcing and inventory planning, standard costing, and management of purchase price variance.

• Implement operating rhythms and performance management routines to enhance visibility, accountability, and decision-making.

• Act as the main finance partner for Connected Water, Connected Security, and Technology leadership.

• Assist in investment decisions, resource allocation, and growth strategies across hardware, software, subscriptions, and emerging technologies.

• Aid leadership in prioritizing investments and evaluating returns against business objectives.

• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting processes.

• Develop new capabilities while navigating shifting priorities and incomplete data.

• Balance long-term capability development with immediate business commitments.

• Motivate, mentor, and cultivate a team of finance professionals.

• Reinstate engagement, accountability, and growth within the organization.

• Lead through collaboration and influence to nurture talent and enhance performance.

• Provide clear and concise financial insights to senior leaders and executive stakeholders.

• Collaborate with the Connected Products leadership team while managing diverse priorities and enterprise objectives.

• Exhibit executive presence, sound judgment, and effective communication in high-visibility contexts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of progressive finance leadership experience.

• Background in supporting connected products, consumer technology, IoT, software-enabled hardware, SaaS, or other technology-driven enterprises.

• Proven success in establishing financial capabilities, processes, and reporting structures in high-growth, emerging, or transformational settings.

• Experience in balancing entrepreneurial innovation with public company governance and financial discipline.

• Strong business partnership abilities to influence leaders across engineering, product, commercial, operations, and executive teams.

• Demonstrated history of leading and developing teams during periods of change.

• Outstanding communication skills, executive presence, and the ability to manage competing priorities among senior stakeholders.

• MBA, CPA, or CMA preferred.

• Experience in smart-home, security, water management, or IoT sectors preferred.

• Familiarity with SaaS, device-as-a-service, and retention/cohort modeling is preferred.

• Working knowledge of SAP, Oracle EPM, or comparable systems is preferred.
