This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Develop, oversee, and execute a thorough planned giving program to secure deferred contributions, including bequests, trusts, and annuities.
• Build, nurture, and maintain relationships with planned giving prospects, donors, as well as estate and financial planning professionals.
• Engage personally, via phone, and virtually with prospects, donors, and professional advisors to provide information on the planned giving program and the American Cancer Society’s initiatives.
• Expand and manage a portfolio of qualified, active prospects through identification, cultivation, solicitation, execution, and stewardship.
• Achieve annual objectives for personal visits, planned gift proposals presented, and new planned gift commitments finalized.
• Utilize Salesforce to monitor, qualify, and report on prospect, donor, and advisor interactions and progression through moves management stages.
• Collaborate with philanthropy and other colleagues to enhance blended gift proposals and cultivate additional planned giving prospects.
• Stay updated on estate and gifting strategies, relevant tax legislation, and trends in charitable giving.
• Maintain familiarity with the Society’s work in cancer research, patient support, prevention, detection, and treatment.
• Exhibit collaborative behavior that aligns with the Society’s cultural beliefs and values.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• Over 3 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, or related experience in nonprofit networking and relationship building.
• Planned Giving experience is preferred.
• CAP or CFRE certification is desirable.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required.
• Consistent access to a reliable internet connection.
• Familiarity with planned giving software such as Crescendo/Salesforce is preferred.
• Strong judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Exceptional organizational skills with the capability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Computer proficiency is essential.
• Strong customer relationship management and customer-centric solution skills.
• Strategic planning skills and the ability to translate future possibilities into actionable strategies.
• Willingness to embrace new opportunities and challenging situations with urgency and enthusiasm.
• Consistent achievement of results even in challenging circumstances.
• Comfort in relating to diverse groups of individuals.
