Nuclear Engineering, Safeguards Expert

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop complex single-turn prompts within the nuclear sector, addressing benign, dual-use, and adversarial contexts.

• Assess AI model outputs based on a specified policy standard.

• Evaluate whether the responses appropriately addressed technical inquiries.

• Create reference answers that articulate the correct responses along with the underlying technical rationale.

• Clearly explain evaluations in a manner that is accessible to non-specialists.

• Engage in reading and writing about misuse scenarios over extended periods.

• Take part in preliminary briefings regarding misuse-related material.

⛳️ Requirements

• In-depth knowledge of the fuel cycle, along with experience in the control, accounting, or diversion of materials.

• Strongly preferred background in safeguards and nonproliferation.

• Relevant qualifications include Safeguards Analyst / IAEA or Euratom Inspector, Nuclear Engineer (Fuel Cycle), Nuclear Security Engineer, Nuclear Forensics Scientist, or Nonproliferation Analyst.

• Previous experience in technical writing, published research, or serving as an expert witness is highly valued.

• Competence in crafting complex single-turn prompts categorized as benign, dual-use, or adversarial.

• Skill in evaluating AI outputs against an established policy standard.

• Ability to produce reference answers and technical explanations that are comprehensible to non-experts.

• Must refrain from utilizing classified, export-controlled, NDA-protected information, or materials that require prepublication review.

• Obligations regarding such information must be disclosed to appropriately scope the work.

• A technical writing sample or link should be included with the application.
