This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
• Lead the Distribution function of the company, ensuring an exceptional customer experience through streamlined operations.
• Directly manage the Corporate Distribution team while providing indirect oversight of plant Distribution teams.
• Enhance overall distribution metrics and provide support to plants as necessary.
• Work closely with plant leadership to sustain stable operations and promote corporate initiatives.
• Create and implement a Corporate Distribution Operating Model within a matrixed organization.
• Foster internal partnerships and communicate the outcomes of the operating model.
• Drive waste reduction initiatives through continuous improvement efforts at both plant and network levels.
• Optimize operational processes, warehouse capacity, distribution labor, material handling equipment, inventory storage strategies, warehouse layouts, distribution technology, and safe food handling practices.
• Formulate long-term strategies to enhance service, lower costs, and increase capacity.
• Oversee outsourced distribution partners and manage 3PL performance, contracts, locations, oversight, service, inventory, costs, and capacity.
• Cultivate the corporate distribution team as leaders in process improvement and implement best practices for receiving, put away, picking, staging, and loading.
• Establish distribution performance metrics, develop measurement tools, and promote sustained operational excellence.
• Build plant-level distribution leadership teams and support career advancement and plant self-sufficiency.
• Oversee the entire Distribution budget, including both internal and 3PL costs.
• Collaborate with plant and finance leadership on budgets and address and communicate significant variances.
• Manage the overall distribution complaint rate across the company, set performance targets, analyze discrepancies, and devise improvement plans.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Over 10 years of progressive leadership experience in warehousing and distribution settings.
• Extensive experience leading large teams within a warehouse environment.
• Full operational responsibility for multi-site warehouse operations experience.
• Experience in implementing and managing continuous improvement tools and management systems, such as WMS, ERP, labor management systems, material handling equipment, or warehouse storage systems.
• Proven track record in project management within distribution and fulfillment operations.
• Demonstrated history of managing and developing professional-level staff.
• Knowledge of contemporary supply chain strategies, efficiency improvement methodologies, operating processes, and warehouse layout design.
• Capability to manage multiple staff resources across various distribution channels.
• Ability to thrive in a matrixed organization and influence decision-making and performance.
• Capacity to lead teams across multiple locations, including both direct and dotted-line reporting structures.
• Proficiency in directing complex activities and projects while balancing personnel and resources to meet deadlines.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong presentation and technical skills.
• 3PL experience is highly preferred.
• Experience in food distribution is advantageous.
• Willingness to travel 50–75% within North America.
• Ideal candidates should reside near Irvine, CA; Dallas, TX; Chambersburg, PA; or Atlanta, GA.
