Director, Corporate Accounting – Shared Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee Accounts Payable operations, which include processing invoices, making payments, providing vendor support, resolving issues, managing workload, and ensuring service-level performance.

• Direct and enhance the AP Operations Supervisor's capabilities while leading AP workstreams, including training, accountability, and the execution of processes.

• Mentor and develop members of the AP and shared services teams through coaching, training, cross-training, clarifying roles, and establishing accountability.

• Supervise vendor management, ACH controls, compliance with W-9/TIN regulations, 1099 support, vendor master controls, and fraud prevention measures.

• Manage payment controls encompassing ACH, checks, Positive Pay, stop payments, voids, reissues, ACH returns, and coordination with Treasury.

• Administer AP close activities, including accruals, cutoff reviews, aging analysis, reconciliations, journal entries, and support for the close process.

• Oversee expense management procedures, which include Concur, BILL, corporate cards, T&E accounting, employee expenses, and the associated reconciliations.

• Supervise selected corporate accounting and shared services tasks, covering fixed assets, leases, prepaid accounts, capitalized software, facilities accounting, and G&A accruals.

• Evaluate journal entries, reconciliations, close schedules, variance explanations, and accompanying documentation.

• Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.

• Create reports, metrics, dashboards, aging reports, SLA tracking, and exception reporting.

• Collaborate with Treasury, Procurement, Legal, Facilities, Finance, Operations, IT, HR, auditors, and business leaders.

• Facilitate audit requests while enhancing controls, documentation, process ownership, and scalability.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent qualification is required.

• At least eight years of progressive experience in accounting, accounting operations, shared services, accounts payable, corporate accounting, or controllership.

• A minimum of three years of supervisory or leadership experience, ideally in managing AP, accounting operations, shared services, or high-volume transactional accounting teams.

• Background in mortgage, financial services, banking, or another regulated industry is preferred.

• Familiarity with AP automation, ERP systems, workflow tools, Concur, corporate card platforms, close management tools, and transformation in shared services.

• Experience with fixed assets, leases, capitalized software, facilities accounting, T&E, vendor governance, and GL administration.

• Proven ability to develop metrics, dashboards, SLAs, process documentation, and operating rhythms.

• Comprehensive understanding of month-end close processes, accruals, reconciliations, journal entries, balance sheet controls, and accounting operations.

• Proficient in vendor management, payment controls, expense management, audit support, and internal controls.

• Demonstrated capability to enhance processes, create documentation, reinforce accountability, and nurture team development.

• Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Wiki, collaborative cloud-based applications, and third-party software.

• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.

• Capacity to work independently or as part of a team.

• CPA, CMA, MBA, or equivalent experience is preferred.

• Willingness to travel 5–10% of the time.

• Availability to work Monday through Friday, with occasional evening or weekend hours as required.

• Must adhere to and implement established process protocols.
