Director, Construction Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oklahoma.

📋 Description

• Create top-tier construction management policies, procedures, tools, and best practices.

• Design and execute a comprehensive training and accountability program across various regions.

• Supervise and assist teams managing significant colocation and hyperscale construction initiatives.

• Oversee daily operations and set the long-term strategic vision for regional construction projects.

• Lead a team of 2–8 direct reports and oversee the performance of the regional Construction Management team.

• Drive projects from inception to customer or business handover, encompassing preconstruction, construction, commissioning, and project closeout.

• Collaborate with Design Management, engineering, procurement, operations, sales, legal, finance, and other cross-functional teams.

• Build relationships with general contractors, trade partners, design partners, AHJs, suppliers, and vendors.

• Manage project budgets, cost data, scopes of work, cost forecasts, contracts, subcontracts, and change orders.

• Oversee up to 25+ external vendors for each project.

• Ensure compliance with quality, specifications, schedules, internal control, and contract administration requirements.

• Conduct inspections of ongoing work and work in progress.

• Interview, hire, train, evaluate, mentor, and develop team members.

• Provide reports on project and departmental status, challenges, achievements, metrics, and action plans to management.

• Engage with customers throughout the fit-out design, construction, and integration phases.

• Promote continuous improvement, creativity, efficiency, and innovation in project delivery.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of direct oversight in team management experience.

• Over 12 years of progressive experience managing commercial construction projects or programs.

• Data center experience is mandatory.

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.

• Extensive network within the data center design and construction community.

• Proficiency in navigating Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), including local zoning, permitting, and inspection authorities.

• Familiarity with lean construction methodologies and tools.

• In-depth understanding of IPD, Design-Build, and Design-Bid-Build project delivery methods.

• Comprehensive knowledge of lump sum, CM at risk, and open book GMP contract methods.

• Experience as a senior leader responsible for major construction project delivery at a general contractor or MEP trade partner.

• Background in data center design and engineering, particularly with MEP systems.

• Proficient in project management software like MS Projects, Prolog, Procore, BIM 360, or similar tools.

• Advanced skills in Excel, Smartsheets, and/or AutoCAD.

• Knowledge of construction cost estimating methods and scope-of-work development.

• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.

• Capability to monitor design and schedule changes and predict their impact on project costs.

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

• Excellent organizational, time management, and change management skills.

• Proven history of mentoring and developing teams and individuals.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.

• Competence in meeting reporting, communication, and project schedule deadlines.

• Capacity to understand and follow clear instructions.

• Multitasking abilities are essential.

• Willingness to travel up to 25%.
