📋 Description

• Develop, enhance, and implement K12's academic strategy to align with organizational priorities, student outcomes, and state accountability standards.

• Take ownership of the K12 School Playbook and oversee the annual school planning process, which includes necessary plan components, guidance, quality benchmarks, and supporting resources.

• Manage the budget and staffing plan for the Academic Strategy function.

• Ensure consistency across Playbook areas, encompassing synchronous and asynchronous instruction, assessment and MTSS, training and observation, and graduation strategies.

• Design and facilitate the Playbook review and feedback process.

• Identify effective practices, implementation challenges, and emerging needs; document and scale successful practices across schools.

• Analyze academic, engagement, graduation, and accountability data to uncover trends, gaps, risks, and opportunities.

• Lead proactive academic supports and the execution of K12's instructional strategy, emphasizing Tier 1 instruction, student academic supports, and fidelity of implementation.

• Establish expectations, frameworks, tools, resources, and professional learning opportunities to enhance effective academic practices.

• Collaborate with school and portfolio leaders to enhance execution and tailor national strategies to specific school contexts.

• Provide strategic oversight for national school counseling priorities, covering graduation planning, monitoring student progress, course completion, credit attainment, postsecondary planning, student engagement, and accountability outcomes.

• Supervise the Program Manager, Academics, and the School Counseling Program Manager.

• Assess academic and counseling strategies using implementation and outcome data and suggest necessary adjustments.

• Work alongside Accountability, Assessment, Research, Curriculum, School Services, Special Programs, Career Readiness, and other cross-functional teams.

• Collaborate with Transformation leaders to integrate lessons learned from intensively supported schools into portfolio-wide strategies.

• Directly oversee the Program Manager, Academics, and School Counseling Program Manager, with the possibility of additional direct reports.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Master's degree in education, educational leadership, curriculum and instruction, school administration, or a related field.

• A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in educational leadership, academic strategy, instructional leadership, school leadership, or program leadership; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Proven experience in utilizing academic and student performance data to establish strategy and enhance outcomes across various schools, programs, or stakeholder groups.

• Comprehensive understanding of effective K-12 instructional practices, academic performance metrics, graduation outcomes, and school accountability systems.

• Capability to analyze both quantitative and qualitative data, recognize systemic patterns, and convert findings into actionable strategies.

• Demonstrated skill in designing coherent planning processes, quality standards, and review systems that bolster implementation.

• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a talent for transitioning from analysis to execution.

• Proven capacity to develop scalable frameworks, tools, resources, and continuous improvement methodologies.

• Exceptional leadership, talent development, project management, and cross-functional collaboration capabilities.

• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and executive communication skills.

• Strong results orientation, organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple high-priority initiatives in a deadline-driven environment.
