Dietitian, Nutritionist – Weight Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +12 more states.

📋 Description

• Evaluate and monitor the nutritional status of patients and clients.

• Modify nutritional care based on current scientific research, medical conditions, anthropometric data, clinical assessments, and nutrition evaluations.

• Deliver medical nutrition therapy and counseling, which includes assessment, education, development, monitoring, and implementation.

• Complete consultations and referrals as necessary.

• Collaborate on nutrition care with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members.

• Prepare nutritional care plans, assessments, consultations, nutrient intake analyses, and documentation for patient/client education.

• Evaluate the effectiveness of education provided to patients/clients and their families.

• Develop, assess, and utilize appropriate educational materials.

• Identify learning needs and assess and document learner responses.

• Provide or create periodic in-services for team members and other disciplines.

• Engage in orientation, training, and mentoring of team members and dietetic interns under the guidance of a manager.

• Teach and share nutrition research findings with medical team members, nursing staff, pharmacy, patients, and the general public.

• Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary departments regarding patient/client care and related issues.

• Offer personnel performance feedback when requested or applicable.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree is required for Registered Dietitians (RD) before 1/1/2024; a Master's degree is required for RD on or after 1/1/2024.

• Must be RD/LDN registry eligible or a Registered Dietitian through the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

• Must be licensed by the applicable state Board of Dietetics and Nutrition.

• If RD/LDN registry eligible, RD/LDN registration must be obtained within 4 months of hire.

• Specialty certifications such as CDCES, CNSC, or AND Certifications may be required.

• Knowledge of growth and development principles and competencies appropriate to the ages, cultures, developmental stages, and special needs of the served population.

• Ability to continuously engage in verbal communication.

• Ability to continuously read written communications in both hard copy and on a computer screen.

• Capable of frequently composing written communications.

• Able to occasionally lift and carry objects weighing 25 pounds or less.

• Capable of performing reaching motor skills.

• Frequent walking, standing, and sitting; infrequent squatting, twisting, and bending.
