DevOps/SRE Tech Lead – Observability

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and maintain telemetry infrastructure, which includes OpenTelemetry Collectors, metrics/logs/traces agents, aggregators, and visualization tools.

• Ensure the observability platform maintains high availability.

• Configure data collection for applications and infrastructure and establish actionable alerting rules with Alertmanager/Incident.io.

• Minimize noise by managing an Observability-as-a-Service model for development teams.

• Design, operate, and enhance AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

• Manage production Kubernetes clusters, focusing on scalability, security, and cost efficiency.

• Construct and refine continuous delivery pipelines to eliminate repetitive operational tasks.

• Lead the infrastructure/platform team by organizing the backlog, assigning tasks, and mentoring engineers.

• Negotiate technical priorities with development and product teams.


⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience with public cloud providers, preferably AWS.

• Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes and the container ecosystem (Docker/containerd).

• Significant experience in operating and supporting distributed, highly available production systems.

• Proven track record of deploying and configuring the observability stack through code (IaC/Helm).

• Strong expertise in Prometheus Operator, OpenTelemetry Collector, Grafana Stack (Loki, Tempo, Mimir), or Datadog, New Relic, and Dynatrace.

• Experience in managing telemetry data retention and associated costs.

• Capability to design resilient and scalable cloud architectures.

• Systems-level understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to enhance the developer experience (DevEx).

• In-depth knowledge of observability data generation, collection, processing, and storage.

• Familiarity with incident response protocols.

• Experience or strong aptitude for facilitating agile ceremonies and managing delivery for a small technical team.

• Proficient in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or similar.

• Demonstrated ability to automate tasks using coding languages like Python, Go, or advanced Bash.

• Experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.

• Ability to articulate technical debt and infrastructure risks in business terms and negotiate priorities accordingly.

• Resilience and composure to make swift decisions under pressure during incidents.

• Mentorship-oriented profile (Servant Leadership).

• Pragmatic approach to balancing architecture with business requirements.

• Nice to have: Experience with Argo CD, Flux, Istio, or Linkerd; FinOps; eBPF (Cilium, Pixie); log sampling and aggregation/discarding; DevSecOps, OPA/Gatekeeper, and supply chain security; CKA or AWS Solutions Architect certifications, or equivalent.

• Proficient in advanced technical English for reading, conversation, and leading discussions with vendors and global teams.
