DevOps Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with the Government of Alberta's Digital Design and Delivery Division on initiatives related to service innovation, program assessment, and digital transformation projects.

• Engage in cross-functional teams focused on program evaluation or product delivery.

• Assist in conducting field research, defining and refining backlogs, planning sprints, and executing sprint tasks.

• Ensure quality in the delivery of digital services while maintaining team focus on excellence.

• Develop test plans, test cases, scenarios, necessary test assets, data environments, tools, and automated test suites.

• Generate scripts, tools, and procedures for operational tasks.

• Design and implement automation strategies for deployment and maintenance with minimal downtime.

• Lead production operations for digital services.

• Oversee production configuration, credentials, maintenance, database upgrades and migrations, backups, and recovery processes.

• Provide operational support for the implementation and enhancement of digital services.

• Create deployment templates for applications and CI/CD pipelines.

• Automate the setup of development and testing environments.

• Develop monitoring and telemetry tools to enhance application observability.

• Assist delivery teams with integration testing, security assessments, system testing, performance, and load testing.

• Facilitate early and frequent delivery to end-users through limited-availability Alpha and Beta launches.

• Eliminate manual processes through the use of automated and AI-driven solutions.


⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience or capability to work across 2–3 projects simultaneously.

• Proficiency in creating test plans, test cases, and test scenarios.

• Skilled in identifying necessary test types, assets, data environments, and tools.

• Ability to develop automated test suites.

• Competence in designing and implementing automation for limited-downtime deployment and maintenance.

• Experience managing production configurations and credentials.

• Capability to plan and oversee maintenance activities.

• Expertise in managing database upgrades, migrations, backups, and recovery efforts.

• Ability to create application deployment templates and CI/CD pipeline patterns.

• Proficient in developing scripts and tools for both development and testing environments.

• Experience with monitoring and telemetry tools to enhance application observability.

• Knowledge of integration testing, security scanning, system testing, performance testing, and load testing.

• Ability to support limited-availability Alpha and Beta launches.

• Proficient in implementing automated and AI solutions to eliminate manual processes.
