DevOps – Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Take charge of EVS Labs’ AWS environment, which includes provisioning, networking, and services that support ECS Fargate, RDS/PostgreSQL, S3, SQS, and other related AWS services.

• Define and oversee infrastructure as code utilizing Terraform.

• Manage secrets, configuration, and maintain consistency across development, staging, and production environments.

• Construct and sustain CI/CD pipelines through GitHub Actions.

• Implement automated testing, deployment workflows, and rollback capabilities.

• Establish monitoring, alerting, and observability using CloudWatch and other relevant tools.

• Engineer uptime, resilience, and scalability into the platform.

• Lead incident response efforts and conduct root-cause analysis.

• Automate repetitive operational tasks to enhance efficiency.

• Oversee the platform's security posture, including IAM, network security, secrets management, and access controls.

• Safeguard sensitive financial, client, and business data through robust security and data-isolation practices.

• Collaborate with the Senior Full Stack Developer to set standards for CI/CD, deployment, infrastructure, and cloud practices.

• Serve as a cross-functional resource for developers working on full-stack, data, GIS, AI, and automation projects.

• Mentor and empower team members on matters related to infrastructure, deployment, security, and reliability.

• Establish technical conventions and platform standards.

• Support identity and SSO integrations, including Azure Entra ID.

• Work with containerized services utilizing Docker and AWS container technologies.

• Use Python and SQL for operational scripting, automation, troubleshooting, and managing PostgreSQL-backed systems.

• Enhance platform reliability, security, observability, performance, and operational efficiency.

• Collaborate with development and engineering teams to understand infrastructure and deployment requirements.

• Assess infrastructure and cloud architecture decisions for scalability, security, reliability, cost, and maintainability.

• Contribute to knowledge sharing, teamwork, and continuous improvement initiatives within EVS Labs.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Four to seven years of professional experience in DevOps, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, or a related area.

• Extensive hands-on experience with AWS as the primary cloud platform, including ECS/Fargate, RDS, S3, IAM, VPC/networking, SQS, CloudWatch, and Secrets Manager or similar services.

• Strong expertise in Terraform and infrastructure-as-code methodologies.

• Proven experience in building and managing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar tools.

• Experience with containerized services and Docker.

• Experience supporting production environments with monitoring, alerting, observability, incident response, and reliability practices.

• Strong understanding of cloud security fundamentals, including IAM, secrets management, network security, access controls, and data isolation.

• Proficiency in Python and SQL for operational scripting and automation purposes.

• Experience with PostgreSQL-backed systems.

• Experience integrating identity and SSO solutions; experience with Azure Entra ID is preferred.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical teams.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to balance immediate delivery needs with long-term maintainability.

• Ability to work independently, take ownership of infrastructure and operational responsibilities, and establish effective technical standards.
