DevOps Lead – AWS, Terraform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the reliability, security, and delivery framework of an AWS serverless platform encompassing infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, and production operations.

• Spearhead hands-on enhancements to the platform while bolstering automation, security measures, resilience, and engineering practices across both maintenance and delivery.

• Create and manage software solutions utilizing a diverse technology stack.

• Ensure that products are functional, efficient, reliable, and scalable.

• Design, operate, and advance production infrastructure on AWS.

• Deploy serverless applications utilizing AWS SAM.

• Enhance and secure CI/CD environments.

• Manage production incident responses and engage in or lead on-call operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Profound hands-on experience in designing, operating, and advancing production infrastructure on AWS, with a significant emphasis on serverless architectures.

• Extensive familiarity with AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, Aurora Serverless, DynamoDB, OpenSearch Serverless, S3, SNS, SQS, ECS, CloudFront, WAF, Route 53, SES, Secrets Manager, AppConfig, and CloudWatch.

• Professional-level experience with Terraform, including the design of reusable multi-environment modules and managing major provider-version upgrades.

• Strong experience with GitLab CI/CD, encompassing pipeline templates, protected environments, approval gates, and OIDC-based authentication with AWS.

• Practical experience in deploying serverless applications using AWS SAM.

• Strong skills in cloud security engineering, including secrets rotation, IAM least-privilege design, secret scanning, and scanning for vulnerabilities in dependencies and containers within CI/CD pipelines.

• Solid experience in observability using CloudWatch metrics, alarms, dashboards, logging, and production monitoring strategies.

• Proven experience in managing production incident responses and participating in or leading on-call operations.

• Experience in implementing SOC 2 controls from an engineering standpoint, including evidence collection, traceability, access controls, and auditable infrastructure practices.

• Valuable experience in designing resilient AWS environments, including multi-region and disaster recovery strategies.

• Strong understanding of cost optimization for serverless and consumption-based AWS services.

• Experience operating Amazon MWAA is a plus.

• Experience transitioning applications from Serverless Framework to AWS SAM or CDK is a plus.

• Experience in enhancing and securing CI/CD environments, including the introduction of effective quality gates, blocking tests, secure deployment controls, and safer production release processes.

• Strong Infrastructure as Code mindset, with infrastructure modifications designed and managed through code rather than manual console configuration.

• Strong ownership of the entire delivery lifecycle, treating infrastructure, security, CI/CD, observability, and production reliability as interconnected engineering responsibilities.

• Excellent troubleshooting and incident-management abilities, including experience in responding to security or secrets-related incidents.

• Proficient English communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and client stakeholders.
