DevOps Engineer – Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Design and manage CI/CD pipelines for quick and secure deployment.

• Take ownership of the infrastructure layer on Azure, encompassing environments, configurations, secrets, and networking.

• Oversee containerized workloads utilizing Docker and Azure managed services.

• Establish and maintain observability through logging, metrics, and alerting systems.

• Troubleshoot real production issues leveraging observability tools.

• Safely execute database and schema migrations with effective rollback strategies.

• Collaborate with the Data Engineering team on the pod’s data platform.

• Document systems and processes to enable production teams to adopt them.

• Shape the operational foundations and execution of the innovation pod.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in a comparable role.

• Proven experience managing CI/CD pipelines from start to finish in a production environment.

• Hands-on experience with Docker and Azure managed services.

• Strong observability skills, including the ability to diagnose live production challenges.

• Experience conducting database or schema migrations in production, including failure management.

• Comfortable working in a small team setting without a large platform function.

• Advantageous: Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, Pulumi, or Bicep.

• Advantageous: Experience in Fintech or other regulated environments.

• Advantageous: Exposure to contemporary data tools such as dbt or Snowflake.

• Advantageous: Interest in agentic or AI-assisted development workflows.

• A habit of documenting decisions through ADRs, runbooks, and incident reports.
