DevOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance CI/CD pipelines.

• Automate the processes for application build, testing, and deployment.

• Oversee source code and version control workflows.

• Diagnose and resolve pipeline failures and deployment challenges.

• Enhance deployment speed, reliability, and consistency.

• Deploy, configure, and manage cloud infrastructure.

• Administer cloud resources, environments, and configurations.

• Ensure infrastructure scalability, availability, and performance.

• Implement monitoring for infrastructure and manage resources efficiently.

• Develop and sustain Infrastructure-as-Code solutions.

• Automate repetitive tasks related to infrastructure and operations.

• Maintain consistent configuration management and environmental integrity.

• Create and manage containerized applications utilizing Docker.

• Provide support for container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.

• Troubleshoot issues related to containers, networking, and deployment.

• Assist with environments related to development, staging, and production.

• Implement and maintain system monitoring, logging, and alerting mechanisms.

• Monitor the performance of applications and infrastructure.

• Address issues related to availability, performance, and reliability.

• Engage in incident investigations and conduct root-cause analyses.

• Assist in backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity procedures.

• Apply DevSecOps principles throughout processes.

• Establish secure access controls and manage secrets effectively.

• Support vulnerability management and regular patching efforts.

• Ensure compliance with security best practices in infrastructure and deployment processes.

• Collaborate closely with developers, software engineers, and technical stakeholders.

• Assist development teams with their deployment and infrastructure needs.

• Document infrastructure, deployment protocols, and technical workflows.

• Provide technical advice and troubleshooting assistance.

• Participate in remote technical meetings and project discussions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Diploma, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Over 3 years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, Systems Engineering, Infrastructure, or a similar technical position.

• Hands-on experience in constructing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.

• Familiarity with cloud environments is essential.

• Strong knowledge of Linux and scripting languages.

• Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes is required.

• Proficiency in Git-based development workflows.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Practical experience with AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.

• Understanding of cloud networking and infrastructure concepts.

• Knowledge of IAM and access management practices.

• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, AWS CodePipeline/CodeBuild, or similar.

• Experience with configuration management tools like Terraform, Ansible, and/or CloudFormation.

• Familiarity with both Linux and Windows Server environments.

• Knowledge of Python, Bash/Shell scripting, and/or PowerShell.

• Experience with GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket for version control.

• Familiarity with monitoring platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Elastic Stack, CloudWatch, or equivalent.

• Reliable internet connection is essential.

• A suitable home working environment is required.

• Ability to respond to priority technical incidents within defined SLAs.

• Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Clear communication skills with development and technology teams.
