AWS DevOps Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Create and manage Infrastructure as Code utilizing Terraform and, when suitable, CloudFormation across multiple AWS accounts.

• Develop reusable Terraform modules and automation for standardized use across different environments.

• Implement AWS architecture, networking, IAM, security, resilience, and provisioning best practices.

• Construct, enhance, and automate CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, CodeBuild, ArgoCD, or similar.

• Integrate security, testing, policy validation, and compliance checks earlier in the delivery lifecycle.

• Create Terraform-based integrations that enforce enterprise compliance requirements within CI/CD workflows.

• Automate infrastructure and operational processes with Terraform, Python, Bash, and Shell scripting.

• Assist in deployments across containerized environments, Kubernetes clusters, and data platforms.

• Diagnose complex pipelines and infrastructure that span AWS, multi-cloud, and on-premises setups.

• Address incidents and resolve issues related to infrastructure, deployment, networking, and platform.

• Enhance platform reliability, observability, performance, capacity, and cost efficiency through automation.

• Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools for infrastructure development, scripting, troubleshooting, and documentation while validating outputs.

• Develop and sustain AWS automation using AWS CLI, Python, Bash, and/or Shell across various accounts and environments.

• Design, implement, and verify highly available and resilient AWS infrastructure using multi-region architectures, load balancing, automated scaling, health monitoring, and tested failover procedures.

• Guide junior and mid-level engineers and contribute to engineering standards, reusable patterns, and best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline required; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

• Over 10 years of combined experience in DevOps, infrastructure, or platform engineering.

• More than 5 years of practical experience designing, provisioning, and supporting AWS infrastructure.

• At least 5 years of production experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or CloudFormation.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience supporting Linux/Unix systems, Kubernetes, and containerized environments.

• Over 5 years automating infrastructure and operational processes using Python, Bash, Shell, or comparable scripting languages.

• 5+ years of experience with GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, or equivalent source control platforms.

• At least 3 years of experience creating CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, CodeBuild, or similar tools.

• Strong comprehension of AWS architecture, cloud networking, security, IAM, and compliance.

• AWS certification, preferably with a focus on architecture, is preferred.

• Experience in automating security and compliance controls within CI/CD pipelines is preferred.

• Familiarity with multi-account AWS, multi-cloud, and hybrid or on-premises environments is preferred.

• Experience in supporting AI, data science, or other data-intensive workloads is preferred.

• Successful completion of a pre-employment background check, including employment and education verification, and a 4-panel drug screen.

• Candidates must be able to articulate all experience listed clearly and confidently.

• Work samples, portfolio links, or other forms of validation may be requested.

• Compliance with restrictions on AI tool usage during interviews or assessments unless explicitly permitted is required.
