Deputy Head of School

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Exhibit leadership that reflects professionalism and upholds high academic standards, recognizing the achievements of both students and staff.

• Direct and manage the school leadership team in the daily operations of the institution.

• Work alongside the Head of School (HOS) to assist the School Board in the execution of the school's vision and mission, as well as in making decisions and formulating policies.

• Supervise career pathway programming, including Arts/AV, IT, Business, Health Science, skilled trades, work-based learning, and post-secondary opportunities.

• Partner with industry and higher education collaborators to facilitate post-secondary opportunities for students.

• Navigate regulatory complexities and political sensitivities involving the board, state department of education, and political stakeholders.

• Formulate plans and policies for the educational program, ensuring appropriate execution of policies and programs.

• Guarantee compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

• Collaborate with the HOS and ACCEL Finance team on the school's budget management.

• Oversee the execution of school marketing strategies and enrollment initiatives.

• Act as a public relations representative between ACCEL and the school community.

• Ensure that school programs are in alignment with the requirements of the authorizing agency.

• Recruit, hire, retain, evaluate, and develop a team of highly qualified staff members.

• Foster and cultivate a positive school culture.

• Assume the role of the school's instructional leader, utilizing data to inform academic decisions.

• Ensure effective implementation of instructional models, curriculum, assessments, and targeted teaching.

• Maintain school census, attendance, and other reporting data required by the state or sponsors.

• Coordinate responses to audits.

• Ensure that school and office security and emergency plans are compliant with requirements.

• Oversee technology efforts within the school and recommend necessary improvements.

• Stay informed about state school report card and accountability components.

• Oversee the creation and review of manuals, policies, and handbooks for parents and students.

• Communicate the school’s mission and vision while seeking input from parents and families.

• Develop professional relationships with parents through timely and consistent communication.

• Coordinate special projects such as peer mentoring, service learning, and community engagement.

• Ensure that student orientation and onboarding programs fulfill the needs of students, families, and staff.


⛳️ Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Education or a closely related field, or relevant Education Administrative Experience.

• Current Administrative and Teacher licenses are required.

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in Education, including 5 years as a K-12 administrator.

• At least three years of experience in an instructional role within an online educational setting.

• A solid understanding of Career and Technical Education (CTE), including its success indicators and pathway implementation.

• Three or more years of experience with CTE, particularly in establishing and maintaining external partnerships.

• Expertise in research-based instructional practices for project-based learning.

• Familiarity with State Standards and Common Core Standards.

• Knowledge of State School Accountability/Report Card Components.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Capability to work efficiently under pressure, prioritizing and executing tasks to consistently meet deadlines.

• Understanding and ability to manage confidential information effectively.

• Comprehension of best practices for instructional strategies.

• Previous experience in online learning and research methodologies.

• Insight into distance learning techniques, assessments, and implementation strategies.

• Familiarity with employee evaluation processes in corporate or non-profit settings.

• Outstanding communication and community-building abilities.

• Extensive knowledge of curriculum development and program design.

• Proven track record in managing non-profit organizations.

• Successful experience in establishing community partnerships and fundraising initiatives.

• An entrepreneurial spirit and drive.

• Knowledge of school and non-profit management practices.

• Ability to pass state and federal background checks.
