This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of the target data model in collaboration with the Group Architect.
• Define canonical entities, structures for identity and access, and establish boundaries with systems that manage their own truth.
• Oversee the end-to-end data workstream for legacy-platform replacement, including profiling, mapping, extraction, transformation, loading, verification, and staged cutover.
• Develop and manage synchronization to ensure the new platform remains current throughout the transition.
• Implement rate-limit handling, timeouts, retries, and monitoring for delicate legacy sources.
• Design data contracts, supported surfaces, and interchange formats for integrations.
• Create secure data surfaces for low-code applications and business workflows.
• Build reconciliation and data-quality evidence, such as automated counts, checksums, exception queues, and verification reports.
• Generate and maintain sanitized and synthetic production-derived datasets.
• Manage the promotion of datasets across different environments.
• Establish safe analytics read paths and queryable data structures without exposing production data.
• Uphold database design standards alongside the platform team.
• Document models, mappings, and pipelines to ensure auditability and transferability.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering, database engineering, or roles centered around migration.
• Proficient in SQL; familiarity with SQL Server and Postgres is essential.
• Knowledge of a scripting language for pipeline development, such as Python or TypeScript.
• Proven track record of operational data modeling.
• Experience in designing schemas and data contracts utilized by multiple teams or systems.
• At least one successful production migration of a business-critical system, with extensive reconciliation experience.
• Background in creating sanitized or synthetic test data from production systems and managing datasets across various environments.
• Experience in executing extraction or synchronization tasks against fragile or rate-limited legacy sources.
• Familiarity with handling regulated or confidential data.
• Must be US-based due to client data-protection obligations.
• Experience in the legal industry is an advantage, though not mandatory.
