Data Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Lead, develop, and mentor a team of Data Engineers.

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the DBA team.

• Drive essential infrastructure initiatives across both streaming and batch environments.

• Engage in hands-on platform projects utilizing GCP, BigQuery, dbt, and Apache Flink.

• Integrate AI into pipeline coding, platform operations, and data access layers.

• Collaborate with the DBA team to ensure the reliability, uptime, and integration of transactional databases with the analytical platform.

• Establish standards for data quality, testing, observability, and cloud resource cost optimization.

• Align pipeline development with critical business decisions and product objectives.

• Write code, review pull requests, and directly address complex system challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in leading data engineering teams, with a willingness to write code, review pull requests, and directly address complex system challenges.

• Strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform, especially BigQuery and cloud data processing.

• Practical experience with dbt for transformation models and Apache Flink (or Dataflow) for real-time streaming data.

• Active user of contemporary AI coding assistants and automation workflows.

• Comfortable managing relational database teams (e.g., PostgreSQL/MySQL) without the need for deep day-to-day DBA execution.

• High expectations for clean architecture, platform governance, and documentation.

• Exceptional communication skills.

• Advanced proficiency in English.

• Spanish-speaking ability is an added advantage.

• Equivalent qualifications in the specified requirements will also be taken into account.
