Data Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina.

📋 Description

• Lead, develop, and mentor a team of Data Engineers.

• Provide direction and high-level management for the DBA team.

• Drive essential infrastructure projects across both streaming and batch environments.

• Write code, review pull requests, and directly address complex system issues.

• Advocate for AI-first engineering methodologies concerning pipeline code, platform operations, and data access layers.

• Collaborate with and support the DBA team to guarantee transactional database reliability, uptime, and integration with analytical platforms.

• Establish standards for data quality, testing, observability, and optimization of cloud resources.

• Align the development of pipelines with significant business decisions and product objectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in leading data engineering teams, with a readiness to write code, review pull requests, and resolve complex system challenges directly.

• Strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform, particularly BigQuery and cloud data processing.

• Practical knowledge of dbt for transformation models and Apache Flink (or Dataflow) for real-time streaming data.

• Active user of contemporary AI coding assistants and automation workflows; enthusiastic about utilizing AI to enhance team effectiveness.

• Comfortable managing relational database teams (e.g., PostgreSQL/MySQL) without requiring in-depth day-to-day DBA execution.

• High expectations for clean architecture, platform governance, and comprehensive documentation.

• Exceptional communication abilities.

• Advanced proficiency in English.

• Spanish language skills are an advantageous plus.

• Equivalent expertise in the mentioned areas will also be taken into account.
