
Data Center Infrastructure Technician – Tier 1

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Support skilled technicians in rack-and-stack projects, equipment staging, cabinet setup, and installation tasks.
• Under supervision, install cable management hardware, labels, patch cords, support components, and basic cabinet accessories.
• Aid in the routing, dressing, labeling, and connecting of copper and fiber-optic cables.
• Acquire knowledge on the proper handling, cleaning, inspection, and safeguarding of fiber-optic connectors.
• Adhere to drawings, rack elevations, cable schedules, checklists, runbooks, and field guidance.
• Assist in unpacking equipment, inventory management, material handling, and maintaining site cleanliness.
• Document serial numbers, asset tags, MAC addresses, photographs, labels, and completion records.
• Update checklists, timekeeping entries, trackers, and work logs.
• Report any damaged equipment, incorrect labels, missing materials, field conflicts, and unsafe conditions.
• Engage in daily safety meetings, pre-task planning, site orientations, and toolbox discussions.
• After receiving instruction or authorization, utilize hand tools, cable tools, labelers, cleaning tools, and basic testing equipment.
• Keep cabinets, pathways, tools, staging areas, and workspaces clean and organized.
• Complete ongoing security awareness training and adhere to company policies.
• Identify and report security risks while contributing to remediation efforts.
• Execute additional duties as assigned.
• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Strong work ethic, dependability, punctuality, and a desire to learn about fieldwork.
• Basic mechanical and technical skills.
• Capability to follow written and verbal instructions without needing repeated corrections.
• Basic proficiency in computer and mobile-device usage.
• Exceptional attention to detail and effectiveness in teamwork.
• Professional communication abilities and respect for customer-site decorum.
• Valid driver's license and the ability to meet travel, background, drug, safety, and site-access screening requirements.
• Prior experience in construction, telecommunications, low-voltage, electrical, mechanical, IT support, warehousing, military service, or field service.
• Coursework or training in networking, electronics, telecommunications, or information technology.
• OSHA 10 certification.
• Completion of BICSI Installer 1 coursework or certification.
• Interest in networking, fiber optics, data centers, critical infrastructure, or AI/HPC deployments.
• Willingness to travel nationwide approximately 75% to 90% with frequent overnight and extended assignments.
• Availability to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, extended shifts, and 10- to 12-hour shifts as needed.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and assist with team lifts when instructed.
• Capacity to stand and walk for long periods; bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, and work inside cabinets.
• Work from ladders after receiving appropriate training and authorization.
• Perform repetitive tasks related to cable routing, labeling, equipment installation, and cleanup in active construction and operational data center environments.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, safety vests, and safety footwear.
