Data Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Carry out and oversee daily Data Quality assessments across various VA sites and extensive datasets utilizing DMM / IRIS data-quality tools.

• Examine data-quality inconsistencies, pinpoint root causes, coordinate corrective measures, and guide issues to resolution.

• Verify migration queries, extracts, transformed data, and transmitted data for thoroughness and accuracy.

• Collaborate with InterSystems IRIS developers, VA personnel, Oracle Health, and SMEs to investigate and resolve discrepancies in migration data and validation challenges.

• Develop, sustain, and assist with weekly Data Quality reporting, ensuring accurate status updates for Weekly Progress Reporting.

• Collect requirements, implement, test, and launch new or improved Data Quality functionalities, checks, queries, and reporting features.

• Construct, validate, and troubleshoot SQL queries and data extracts spanning clinical and administrative data domains.

• Oversee DQ applications and supporting environments, detect application/server issues, and facilitate resolution with engineering or platform teams.

• Manage DQ application access and permissions as designated, and maintain documentation for DQ tools, checks, processes, and operational procedures.

• Lead regular Data Quality meetings and communicate status, findings, risks, and resolution strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Utilize and support DMM applications, including the Data Quality Tool, Data Quality Control Panel, Journal File Search, Enterprise Domain Activity by Site, Query Management Tool, Cutover Check Application, Data Migration Event Tracker, and DMM Ticketing System.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Analytics, or a similar technical field.

• Experience in data validation, data-quality analysis, testing, reconciliation, or troubleshooting across large datasets.

• Proficient SQL skills, including the capacity to create and validate ad hoc queries for investigation and reconciliation purposes.

• Familiarity with automation, monitoring, data mapping, testing, or analytical tools.

• Understanding of database architecture, data integrity principles, and security considerations for both on-premises and cloud-hosted systems.

• Strong problem-solving capabilities with the ability to investigate discrepancies, recognize patterns, and convey clear findings and recommended actions.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to facilitate technical discussions and present findings to customers and stakeholders.

• Experience with InterSystems IRIS / Caché, VistA, VX130, or VA healthcare data.

• Knowledge of Linux, Kubernetes / containers, Power BI, GitHub / Azure DevOps, and Agile / Scrum methodologies.

• Background in supporting data migration, cutover validation, or healthcare data reconciliation.

• Experience within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or other federal healthcare environments.

• Capacity to obtain and maintain the necessary Government background investigation / access authorization.

• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.

• All selected candidates must successfully undergo a background check.

• Ability to acquire and retain a Government/Public Trust clearance, including required fingerprinting, as needed for the role.

• Must complete fingerprinting at a government facility.
