Data Analytics Supervisor, SQL, Power BI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Supervise a team responsible for data analysis, reporting, and data infrastructure support.

• Act as the final reviewer and approver for reports, dashboards, and data outputs.

• Conduct quality assurance and validation checks to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with business objectives.

• Lead intricate analytics projects that involve data modeling, exploratory analysis, and the development of key performance indicators (KPIs).

• Transform vague business inquiries into data-driven solutions in collaboration with stakeholders.

• Establish and uphold standards for reporting accuracy, naming conventions, and documentation.

• Suggest enhancements to data processes, query efficiency, and the usability of dashboards.

• Offer technical direction, mentorship, and informal training to analysts and reporting coordinators.

• Directly manage analysts and reporting coordinators by setting goals, providing coaching, and overseeing performance management.

• Escalate and ensure quality control for complex data requests and reporting challenges.

• Update the reporting infrastructure by assessing tools, automating outdated reports, and introducing self-service options.

• Create team operating procedures and documentation.

• Support data governance, ensure accuracy, and promote continuous improvement.

• Conduct one-on-one meetings and performance evaluations.

• Offer growth opportunities and assist in attracting new talent.

• Communicate expectations while providing training, resources, and information.

• Mentor, advise, and deliver timely constructive feedback on performance.

• Execute additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience is required.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in data analytics is required.

• 1–2 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity is preferred.

• Proven experience with data warehouses, SQL, and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar is essential.

• Strong knowledge of data modeling is required.

• Strong understanding of data transformation (ETL/ELT) is necessary.

• Strong grasp of relational databases is essential.

• Ability to manage competing priorities and guide others in a dynamic environment is crucial.

• Demonstrated success in managing or mentoring analytical teams with varying experience levels is required.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are a must.

• Ability to engage with both technical teams and non-technical business stakeholders is essential.

• High-speed cable broadband or fiber optic internet service with a minimum of 100Mbps download and 25Mbps upload is required.
