Damage Prevention Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Oversee the performance of the Damage Prevention team along with the objectives of the designated territory.

• Recruit, train, retain, interview, and identify candidates for a high-achieving team of Damage Prevention Technicians.

• Record interactions, site details, and utility information in organizational software.

• Distribute and balance the workload among team members.

• Recognize and nurture team talent.

• Liaise with clients, engineers, and management to address and prevent outages.

• Supervise locating efforts to ensure that locates are precise, thorough, and executed punctually per state regulations.

• Build and maintain relationships with construction contractors to avert damage to cable plants.

• Collaborate with Zayo market OSP personnel regarding relocations, activities that pose cable-plant risks, and documentation of strike damage.

• Work with OSP and Finance personnel responsible for damage-strike cost recovery to optimize third-party and vendor reimbursement.

• Partner with tools-development staff and State Damage Prevention Managers on feature enhancements and best practices for prevention and prediction.

• Provide training and development for Damage Prevention Technicians on tools, OSP inspection competencies, strike-damage documentation, and additional responsibilities.

• Identify, create, and implement process and procedure enhancements through root cause analysis.

• Review daily technician hand-off reports to ensure that dispatches, tasks, and maintenance projects are completed punctually.

• Conduct performance evaluations.

• Be available for on-call duties and/or various shifts, including weekends and evenings.

• Travel as required.

• Work outdoors in diverse environments, weather conditions, and temperatures.

• Perform other assigned tasks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must reside within 30 minutes of the Miami, FL metropolitan area.

• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in utility locating and field construction tasks is required.

• At least one (1) year of experience leading a team is required.

• Previous experience in site development, underground installations, utility locating, and fiber optic cable construction is necessary.

• Capability to maintain eligibility for operating a company-issued vehicle per company policy, which includes no more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years.

• Must possess a state-issued driver's license for the state of residence.

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

• A bachelor's degree in engineering, construction, or a related field, or equivalent work experience is required.

• Telecom training is mandatory.

• OSHA or other Safety Certifications are required.

• Applicants must currently be authorized to work full-time in the United States.

• This position is not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization, including OPT, TN, H1B, or any other work visa, now or in the future.

• Ability to work outdoors in various environments, weather conditions, and temperatures.

• Ability to be on call and/or work various shifts, including weekends and evenings.

• Willingness to travel as necessary.
