Customs Compliance Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Conduct initial evaluations and grant approval for all new items proposed for import by Gordon Food Service (Limson)

• Recognize items and areas with significant compliance risks; provide consultation and guidance to leadership regarding potential exposure

• Oversee shared tariff databases including classifications, tariff rates, TT, origin, and other import data components

• Maintain an internal reference library for decisions related to tariff classification, valuation, and preferential claims

• Sustain and encourage the use of a manual outlining customs compliance policies and procedures

• Manage post-entry verification initiatives and supervise both individual and blanket adjustments of customs records

• Implement and uphold a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to govern the partnership with Canadian customs brokers

• Monitor the accuracy of customs entries and the billing of brokerage, duty, and OGD fees

• Act as a point of contact between AP, Cost, Finance, and customs compliance teams

• Assist with customs compliance projects, including CBSA compliance verifications and refund claims

• Analyze new customs policies and regulations, establishing processes and procedures to fulfill compliance obligations

⛳️ Requirements

• Comprehensive knowledge of tariff classification principles (GIR)

• Thorough understanding of customs valuation techniques and the application of FTA-specific rules of origin

• Capability to maintain and assess extensive tariff databases of foreign vendors and imported goods

• Familiarity and experience in submitting individual and blanket corrections

• Awareness of various PGAs and OGD regulations within North America

• Experience with imports regulated by CFIA and GAC, particularly TRQ subject goods

• Exceptional written, verbal, organizational, and communication skills

• Strong problem-solving skills

• Excellent time management and organizational abilities

• Proficient in managing multiple projects at once

• Must be able to commute from a Gordon Food Service distribution center within Canada

• Candidates employed by a Gordon Food Service customer must submit a letter of support from their management if selected for the interview process
