
Crisis Helpline Responder – Full Time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malaysia.
• Answer a hotline dedicated to providing crisis support for individuals affected by suicide, those engaging in self-harm, experiencing suicidal thoughts, and their concerned friends or family.
• Perform risk evaluations, including assessments of lethality in suicide scenarios.
• Deliver evidence-based crisis counseling and personal support utilizing de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques.
• Evaluate the needs of callers and prioritize for immediate safety, emergency medical care, or suitable service referrals.
• Keep precise and comprehensive call records regarding key issues and actions taken on referrals.
• Adhere to obligations under the Data Protection Acts 1988, 2003 & 2018 (GDPR).
• Assist in creating suitable crisis management plans for individuals in distress.
• Make prompt decisions in real-time when uncertain about the next steps.
• 1–3 years of experience working on helplines, either in a paid or volunteer role.
• Completion of training in Crisis Intervention or Suicide Prevention.
• Experience in handling high-risk clinical situations related to suicide or crises.
• Relevant insurance as mandated by the candidate’s country.
• Capability to maintain emotional stability during high-pressure situations and recover from stressful interactions and critical cases.
• A Master’s degree in Psychology/Counseling or a related field is preferred, but not mandatory.
• A background in mental health or emergency services is advantageous.
• Proficiency in more than one language is a plus.
