Coverage Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Manage declaratory judgment cases associated with Transportation/Sharing Economy claims involving a corporate entity.

• Partner with front-line claims personnel and management to conduct coverage analysis and evaluate coverage position letters.

• Assess Time Limited Demands and claims of unfair claim practices.

• Engage with underwriting teams to formulate case strategies.

• Ensure that claim investigation and resolution strategies are appropriate.

• Guarantee the prompt completion of coverage analyses and the establishment of coverage positions.

• Assign competent and qualified attorneys to litigated claims.

• Create and implement litigation management strategies.

• Collaborate with underwriting and risk engineering teams on policy forms and claim assessments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in a technical claims handling role, particularly in Sharing Economy/Transportation claims.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, along with a Juris Doctorate, is required.

• Legal experience at a law firm dealing with insurance coverage issues in Transportation/Sharing Economy cases may be accepted in place of claims handling experience.

• Coverage experience in Transportation/Sharing Economy, encompassing UM/UIM, PIP, ridesharing, delivery services, small fleet issues, and Federal & State statutory regulations.

• Experience in major claim adjustments, coverage analysis, and supervisory roles is advantageous.

• Demonstrated creative problem-solving skills.

• Strong written and oral presentation capabilities.

• Proficient in computer usage and Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively.

• Capacity to adapt to change.

• Willingness to travel by car and various forms of public transportation.

• Compliance with departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels, to meet C&F risk management controls.
