Cost Manager – Life Sciences

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Assist in the planning, execution, and financial oversight of life sciences construction projects.

• Provide clients with guidance on procurement strategies and oversee the prequalification of vendors.

• Evaluate proposals, bids, and bid leveling documents; offer recommendations to clients.

• Participate in and lead bid interviews while managing the vendor selection process.

• Create, assess, and present project cost estimates that include construction, fees, direct work, and other expenses.

• Offer recommendations for value engineering and conduct risk assessments.

• Analyze, verify, and challenge vendor costs using benchmarking data.

• Set up cost reporting schedules and review as well as present cost reports and forecasts.

• Maintain commercial risk registers and facilitate meetings with project teams and vendors.

• Oversee cost control, payment applications, contractor entitlements, change orders, and contractual disputes.

• Supervise and track invoicing processes.

• Compare performance against successful commissions.

• Handle final accounting, post-contract audits, and account closure processes.

• Conduct post-contract evaluations, document lessons learned, and develop training materials.

• Formulate project handover procedures.

• Utilize bid analysis sheets, change control forms, cost estimating software, and take-off software.

• Comply with relevant SOX control responsibilities.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related construction field.

• A minimum of 3–5 years of pertinent experience in a cost management capacity within the construction sector.

• RICS accreditation or progress toward it is advantageous.

• Experience in supporting cost management for medium to large-scale construction projects.

• Construction consultancy experience is highly preferred.

• Strong understanding of construction industry technical aspects, including procurement methods, value management, and value engineering.

• Excellent communication skills.
